Celia King

Celia King serves as the Chief Executive Officer for Leadership Newark, Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on strengthening the city’s civic infrastructure. Her responsibilities include the overall management and oversight of budgetary matters, numerous leadership development programs, and the organization’s personnel. Prior to assuming her current position, King worked in the healthcare administration field for more than ten years. She is also the former Councilwoman of Maplewood, New Jersey, a role she served for eight years, four of which were in the capacity of Deputy Mayor. Beyond BRICK, King has served on the Board of Directors for Prospect Presbyterian Church, Marion P. Thomas Charter School Foundation, Newark Emergency Services for Families; Newark Trust for Education, Emerge New Jersey, and more. She is also a member of a member of Phi Alpha Alpha Public Administration Honor Society. King completed her undergraduate studies at Syracuse University and received her Master’s degree in Management and Urban Policy from The New School.
